LUXURY
2023 Wyjup Collection Riesling
Fruit parcels were selected from the Wyjup vineyard (South block).
Typical Mount Barker floral (rose petal)aromatics, a hint of musk perfume, and a core of citrus influence. The palate structure is all about finesse and Riesling purity. Intensely focused citrus flavours glide over the mid-palate, followed by fine-boned structure and power. The length and flavour persistence is a feature.
Pair with natural Albany rock oysters from the pure estuarine environment of Oyster Harbour.
Limited and Exclusive. This wine has a cellaring potential of 10-15 years.1440 bottles made.
95 Points - "This is a first-rate riesling from this special site in a special year. It is expressive, revealing on the palate early and pushing through into its sustained finish. The site is a key part of this wine. Its orientation pushes picking time up to three weeks later than other parts of the vineyard, leading to more hang time, and allowing the flavour intensity to build while retaining the essential acid balance. Perfumed lemony lime and floral aromas are pretty and intense. There is a slightly chalky character through the delicate and intense palate. Precise and defined with a bracing acidity contributing to its palate tension. It is a wine that will age beautifully." - Ray Jordan Wine.
91 Points - "Single vineyard wine from 1965 plantings. Quite intense, very limey, some minerally undertones and a bit of salt bush/sea spray character. Good perfume, lively and fresh feeling, the palate similar for its vitality, good drinking, refreshing overall and very frisky in the best sense." - Mike Bennie, Wine Companion
