2022 Wyjup Collection Riesling

LUXURY

2022 Wyjup Collection Riesling

A very pale straw colouring.

The nose shows pristine and intense floral and rose petalfruit aromatics typical of Mount Barker Riesling with overlayed lime zest and orange blossom. The palate structure is all about finesse and Riesling purity. Intensely focused citrus flavours glide over the mid-palate, followed by fine-boned structure and power. The length and flavour persistence is a feature.

Pair with Char-grilled Fremantle Octopus with Eggplant and Tomato Zaalouk

Limited and Exclusive. This wine can be cellared for 10-15 years. 2400 bottles made.

95 Points - "This is quintessential Great Southern riesling. The aromatics and flavours have purity and restraint with lemon blossom, grapefruit and subtle white flowers. The palate is taut, bright and minerally. Call it sucking on pebbles, licking slate or choose your own metaphor this has minerals and salinity. Finishes long and pithy dry, as the fresh acidity resolves and softens. Enjoy now or wait at least five years for aged characteristics to increase complexity." - Paul Edwards, The West Australian.

95 Points - "On the nose you immediately get that characteristic spiciness which seems a part of this region for riesling. It works so well with the other notes of citrus and floral lime. The palate is precise and very long with a degree of varietal tension as the fine crisp acidity promotes a very long finish. That saline minerality on the finish is superb." - Ray Jordan, WA Wine Guide

95 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

95 Points - "Pretty and fragrant, with gentle savoury notes building around the edges. But it is on the palate where this wine shines. Not so much the flavours but the amazing silky texture that envelops the senses, supported by fine lime acidity and supple minerality. An impressive wine." - Barry Weinman, finewineclub.com

92 Points - "From the best parcels of a single vineyard. It's a delicious and easy-drinking riesling, quite soft and slippery with acid low-key and fruitiness to the fore. Lots of ripe, green apple juice, quince and nectarine with some faint minty elements in the mix – the bouquet and palate are similarly served. Decent concentration here, albeit the wine feels quite gentle still and missing a little energy, but a really charming drink all up. And some complexity in minerally elements and textural detail to boot." - Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion

92 Points - "Peaches, lemons and green apples on the nose. Some sea shells. Crisp, precise and zesty, with a medium body and a dry and refreshing finish. Drink now or hold. Screw cap." - James Suckling

91 Points - "Very light yellow colour and stone-fruit/apricot/nectarine aromas, gently yeasty. The wine is linear, tense and very dry, lean and nervy and just a wee bit hard on the aftertaste at first. A trace of sweetness mid-palate before the acidity refreshes the finish. After time in the glass it had more richness and intensity. Time needed." Huon Hooke, The Real Review
