2019 Three Lions Cabernet Merlot
69% Cabernet Sauvignon & 31% Merlot
A deep maroon colouring. Ripe blackcurrant and spiced plum aromas, with some earthy leafy tones and floral violets on the nose. The palate is sweet red berried fruit characters dominating the medium-bodied palate. The silky Merlot component helps tone down the firmer Cabernet tannins, allowing for a smooth approachable style.
The perfect pairing for pizza
92 points - "This is an attractive medium-bodied blend with delightful, perfumed aromas a feature. Blackcurrant and light fruit cakey characters emerge from the nose with a slightly meaty game nuance. On the palate things move into a dark cherry and slightly black olive profile with a toasty oak overlay well managed. Excellent drinking in the short term while those primary fruit characters are so pronounced." - Ray Jordan, Wine Pilot
91 points - "Deep-ish red with the faintest tint of purple and a pleasantly Medoc-like touch of rose-bush and leaf tobacco amongst the developing bouquet. The wine is attractively flavoured, structured and balanced, with abundant harmonious fine-grained tannins and complex floral and red berry fruit flavours, a trace of ironstone and a hint of peat/dried-herb. Lovely wine, merlot drives it more than Cabernet. It's starting to enter its peak drinking window, and is great valiue. It scores highly for drinkability." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
