2018 'Tony Smith' Shiraz
A highly limited release, with only a minimal allocation of 1080 bottles made. Sold direct to our loyal consumers only via the Mount Barker Cellar Door, online or by contacting email@example.com directly.
Built to age with a cellaring potential of 20 years. 2018 was a sublime vintage; cool winter conditions followed by early spring rains ensured a saturated soil profile at the commencement of bud burst.
Aromas are brooding deep and rich, graphite, earth and gravel with dark berries. The palate is firm, tightly structured, full-bodied but stylish, a cool-climate style with an incredible density of layered fruits, spice and licorice.
Born from the 'Bouverie Vineyard' first planted in 1968 by 'Tony Smith' himself. This is our lineage.

"In the blink of an eye, the new owners have released a wine that pays worthy tribute to Plantagenet founder Tony Smith. It is sourced from the Bouverie vineyard, which was planted back in 1968, making it one of the oldest in the Great Southern. A deep mix of gravelly dark berry with a little edgy graphite and ironstone. A lovely perfumed, spicy note mix greets immediately. The palate is tightly wound yet generous with immense power and concentrated depth of fruit Oak and tannin combination works its magic to hold the line through to a very long finish."

"Named after Tony Smith, founder of Plantagenet wines. The source vines from the Bouverie vineyard were planted in 1968. Only made in exceptional years. Densely packed with concentrated, reverberating fruit that ripples across the tongue and through to the long finish. There is oak here, but it is swamped by the fruit which allows nothing to stand in its way. An exceptional wine of muscular definition and streamlined length of flavour. A very impressive first release: bravo."
